Woods & Stains
We Offer the following wood & finish options. It is important to note that all stain options are limited to the wood category that they are shown on below. Also refer to actual real wood samples to make your selection as images can vary from wood samples.
Our Brushwork Maple begins with carefully selected solid Ambrosia Maple. This maple was once home to the Ambrosia Beetle. Insects and soil conditions are natural contributors to the unique characteristics of every tree. These factors do not compromise the structural integrity of this distinctive wood. Next we incorporate our creative texturing technique. During the preparation of materials we use a special acclimatizing pre-treatment procedure. We then meticulously add our unique hand applied “BRUSHED” distressing technique. The end result is a distinctly modern-rustic appearance reminiscent of warm windswept prairie lands. Not only does this enhance the beauty, it provides a durable user friendly surface that gives every piece a personality of its own.

Our Buxton Cherry begins with premium solid Black Cherry, widely considered one of the finest materials for building handcrafted furniture. The natural beauty of Black Cherry wood comes from the unique markings and colour variations present in every harvested tree. The inner core or “Heartwood” provides a high content of dark reddish-brown wood with minimal mineral deposits and white sapwood. We carefully select our Cherry wood with special attention to ensure colour consistency. All stain choices are formulated to specifically highlight the beauty of this prized hardwood. Its important to note that solid Cherry will darken further over time to develop a deep, rich patina. Small black flecks called "Pitch Pockets" or "Mineral Deposits" present in the grain, are the result of tiny amounts of sap that were stored in the tree as it grew. These natural and randomly occurring marks do not diminish the strength or quality of the wood, but further add to its beauty and uniqueness.

Our Heritage Maple comes from the same trees as our Smooth Maple. The only difference is that these trees were also once home to the Ambrosia Beetle. Insects, temperature changes and soil conditions all affect the appearance of every tree. The markings left behind by the Ambrosia Beetle provide a look that’s as personal as the tree itself. The naturally formed network of tunnels and cradles with dark streaks creates a decorative affect. The structural integrity is not compromised. Combined with our special hand planed technique, it offers a hand-hewn look that’s reminiscent of the time worn, rustic appearance of vintage barn timbers. Every piece is truly “One-of-a-kind”.

Our Serene Oak begins with the prized solid Red Oak tree. Solid Oak has been used for centuries in the production of fine handcrafted home furnishings. The Oak tree has long been revered as a symbol of strength and beauty, hence the saying ‘’From a Tiny Acorn … the Mighty Oak Tree Grows’’. Commonly selected for its unique coarse-grained texture and excellent durability, we specifically formulated our Serene Oak stain colours to soften the grain patterns to achieve a warm tranquil effect. Protected by our ultra low sheen conversion varnish, our Serene Oak is an ideal choice for current styling; modern, transitional and contemporary.
